I often get asked what holistic nutrition is and what it is I do ... so in a nut shell kind of lol ..
Holistic Nutrition is the use of nutrition and lifestyle habits to help improve ones health, the issue is mainstream medicine can sometimes miss the fact that poor nutrition such as certain foods in excess or nutrient deficiencies can be one of the major contributors to a wide range of health issues.
My role as a holistic nutritionist is to help take a natural approach using evidence based techniques for diet, lifestyle and detoxification to help balance the bodies systems. Instead of focusing on just ONE aspect of person or taking a one size fits all approach. Holistic nutrition evaluates complete health history, emotional state, lifestyle habits and your current diet. Looking at habits of each individual help determine what the root cause of the health issue is. Proper nutrition is a unique and personal journey .. under certain circumstances what is generally deemed a healthy food for most could quit possibly be dangerous for others or be setting them back. For instance... Spinach and blueberries is usually a very healthy food to recommend to most .. but for those suffering from kidney stones these foods could potentially cause an attack. Each one of us comes from very different backgrounds and up bringing and we all have different health issues that don't all warrant the same approach.
My ultimate goal as a nutrition coach is to empower and educate my clients, family and friends into improving his/her health with the use of nutrient dense foods, natural supplements and lifestyle recommendations. To teach others to be their own advocate and to take their health into their own hands.
