Its the end of the first month of the new year .. its where we can look back and say we accomplished our first new year resolutions or we didn't quite make it. They say that up to 90% of the people who join a gym in January quit with in the first 5 months, people who say the will cleanse don't follow through. If your one of the guilty ones its not for lack of trying or will ... Want to know whats missing? Clear and defined goals. Why are you making these changes ? In order for us to really want to make some major life style shifts we sometimes have to dig a little find our true motivators ...to be clear and honest with ourselves, which can be scary but it shouldn't be overwhelming and discouraging. My personal resolutions just for the month of January were to stay off social media for 1 month and to avoid consuming alcohol, 2017 was year full of celebrations I made some amazing memories but my liver took a beating, social media was a harder one than the social beverages I was enjoying. In order to achieve my goals I had to be clear on why I was doing this for myself. I wanted to be more present and not distracted while I was waiting in line ups at the grocery store , I needed a detox from some of the unhealthy negative news that you cant avoid on Facebook anymore. I gave myself a time line in which I wanted to finish my online course and website launch ... so every time I found myself reaching for my phone to scroll instagram or fb I would pick up my text book and read or plug away at my content. I believe in finding your personal balance with everything .. a life style that you can enjoy everything within moderation chocolate was not created to never be enjoyed. But sometimes unhealthy habits just creep in little by little ... nothing ever starts full throttle good change and bad change all start small and slowly morph into something wonderful or something distrcuctive. Making healthier choices for ourselves is all about self awareness, being honest with ourselves, having accountability and being able to identify our personal values and priorities. So if you did set some resolutions for this year and your doing great be proud of yourself. If you fell off your wagon there no such thing as failure only insight on what you can do differently by taking a different approach this time and maybe start on a smaller scale. If you never stepped foot in a gym before don't set a goal to be in the gym 5 days a week for an hour .. start off with 2 days for 30 min or hire a trainer to show make you more comfortable and go from there set realistic and achievable goals they can grow and evolve into bigger ones as your progress. Healthy change shouldnt be stressful it should feel good , uncomfortable at times but overall the changes you make for your better well being should leave you feeling good about yourself mentally, emotionally and physically. " Balance is not better time management, balance means making choices and enjoying these choices " .
